FOREST, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Firemen battled two fires Friday night at the Koch Foods Plant in Forest.

Saturday Chief Jason Tillman, with the Forest Fire Department, said crews arrived on scene (Friday) at the plant and encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions from the roof area above the storage cooler.

Tillman said, "The type of insulation used in these facilities significantly contributed to the intensity of the fire, however, our crews were able to confine the fire to the cooler area of the plant.  Fire units remained on scene throughout the night to ensure there were no rekindle fires,".

Tillman added, "The cause of the fire is possibly linked to construction that was taking place on the roof".

"As of now, Koch Foods management and staff are on the scene at the plant surveying the damage and removing product from the affected area," Chief Tillman said.

Tillman said investigators will be speaking with plant personnel along with the construction company employees this week in an effort to determine the exact cause of the fire.

We're told four units from across Scott County, a unit from Smith County and a portable air supply unit from Rankin County responded to the scene.

Friday security personnel at the Koch Foods Morton Plant told WLBT there were two fires at the Forest Plant Friday night.

Ashli Ragan, HR Manager of the Morton processing plant for Koch Foods said first shift employees, for the Morton location, should not report to work Saturday. Ragan said the Sunday night and Monday morning shifts for the Morton and Forest locations should report as scheduled.

It's uncertain if anyone was injured in the fire.
