JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Cancer survivors strutted the catwalk Sunday night at Thalia Mara Hall in downtown Jackson.

Pink The Runway Fashion Show, sponsored by Friends of Survivors, a non-profit organization, benefited victims of cancer.

Local designers and boutiques provided the fashions and this year's proceeds will go to resources for those currently undergoing treatment for any type of cancer.

"This is our fifth year. So it's kind of big for us because as you know we push early detection within our organization which is called Friends of Survivors," said Vice President Kimberly Minor. "And generally speaking if you've been in remission for five years, the doctors say that you're actually cured. So fifth year, five things are happening and five is kind of big for us".

Friends of Survivors was established in 2012 to honor a friend who survived breast cancer.
