RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Rankin County deputy was stuck by a needle while trying to arrest a man in Florence.

This happened Saturday while deputies responded to a domestic dispute. 39-year-old Don Summerline was accused of attacking two women.

Summerline tried to escape police and backed into one of the officer's squad cars. While officers tried to arrest him, a hypodermic needle in the suspect's pocket stabbed the deputy.

Both the deputy and Summerline were taken to the hospital to get checked out.

Summerline is now in jail and is facing charges including assault on a law enforcement officer.
