MADISON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Bryan Eubank is finally getting the chance to talk about his Cubbies on his afternoon sports radio show.

A fan since childhood, he’s excited for their first World Series appearance in 71 years.

"I didn’t know about the length of not winning until I got older, and realized just how bad and how frustrating it can be to a Cubs fan and truly be the lovable loser," said Eubank. "I was just glad, on Saturday night, to finally get the opportunity to cheer for my team in the World Series.

Nick Garrard has also been a Cubs fan since childhood, living through plenty of heartache.

"You find your team and you stick with them. They kill you, they break your hearts, and that just makes the highs more exciting and fun," said Garrard. "Look, I follow Ole Miss and I follow the Cubs. It has not been an easy fandom."

At Wrigley, they "Fly The W" after every Cubs win. The same is now true at Elton Richardson’s home in Madison.

"After 2003 with Steve Bartman, I didn’t think this would ever happen. I came out of the room the other night with tears in my eyes," said Richardson. "This is just joy."

Zac Griggs has lived through more pain and joy as a Cubs fan, but believes this, truly, is the year.

"This team here is one of a kind," Griggs explained. "They’re young, but this is going to be the team I think that’s going to bring us through and finally bring a World Series to us."

Game 1 of the World Series starts Tuesday in Cleveland. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. on Fox40.

"I hope they can win it in 5 and win it in Wrigley. That would be the dream. I don’t know if they can do that. I think it’s probably a 6 or 7 game series," said Eubank. "But if they win it in Wrigley, they may have to actually rebuild Wrigley cause they may tear the place down."
