JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson State University's homecoming concert, featuring Lil' Wayne and 2 Chainz, was abruptly canceled on Tuesday, the day the concert was to be held, and the university will be giving refunds to those who purchased tickets.

According to school officials, the refunds will be available inside the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center between 1 and 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Students must show proof of purchase by showing the ticket.

JSU made the announcement about the cancellation via Twitter on Tuesday morning.

But just on Tuesday, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, and JSU were posting to remind people about the concert.

The concert was supposed to be in the university's Assembly Building at 8 p.m. It's not sure yet what led to the cancellation, but several students all had the same theory.

"Just like a misunderstanding type of thing. I think probably what had happened was Jackson State maybe had maybe forgotten to send a deposit or something like that. With the financial thing going on, that's probably what it was," said Brandon Sample and Brandon Mason, who are students at JSU.

And that notion may be close to correct. Lil Wayne's manager said on Facebook that it was a financial issue, just not the school's fault.

Some students are outraged, trying to reach JSU on twitter. Others are staying more positive.

"I'm looking forward to the substitute event they were gonna do for us. You know, we love Jackson State, it's homecoming week. They're gonna come through," Sample and Mason added.
