Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr. Glenn Boyce, has accepted JSU President Dr. Carolyn Meyers' resignation on behalf of the Board of Trustees.
Meyers' resignation is effective November 1.
Meyers says she is prepared to move out of her residence within 30 days.
There has been recent speculation that Meyers would be fired, and also the revelation that JSU's reserve cash fund has been depleted by 89% in the past five years.
“We appreciate Dr. Meyers’ service to Jackson State University and wish her well in future endeavors,” said Dr. Boyce.
An interim president will be named and a timeline for the presidential search will be announced soon.
“Students remain our top priority,” added Dr. Boyce. “We are confident that Jackson State will move forward and continue to be an excellent institution and source of pride for students, faculty and alumni.”
