JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A local rescue, Madison Ark, went to Louisiana to help up during the flooding back in August.

While helping with the damage, they found an older dog tied to a car battery with a wire and left to fend for himself. According to the rescue group, he had a horrible skin condition, was severely underweight and terrified of people.

The dog is now called Rusty.

A local rescue in Louisiana called "Livingston Parish Animal Shelter", kept Rusty until plans could be arranged for Madison Ark to take over his care and get him healthy enough to transport to Jackson. Rusty finally made it to his foster home in Jackson Sunday.

The rescue says he will soon be up for adoption.

Madison Ark describes Rusty as a dog that gets along with all dogs and people. He is a "sweet older guy" who loves to lay around. He can be shy at first, but warms up quickly.
