Murder suspect arrested in February shooting at Black Diamonds

Murder suspect Jamichael Jackson is now in custody in Hinds County after being arrested in Harris County, Texas last week on unrelated charges.

He was arrested for allegedly possessing and selling cocaine. At the time of his arrest he gave Texas authorities a fake name, but fingerprint identification led to a positive identity of Jackson, who was listed on NCIC as a wanted person. 

23-year-old Jackson was extradited back to Hinds County on Sunday to face outstanding burglary charges.

JPD is expected to interview him on Tuesday regarding a February murder and shooting at Black Diamonds.

On February 20, JPD responded to Black Diamonds after reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found two people shot.

Dennis Evans was wounded and taken to UMMC. Sylvester Williams was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

JPD learned that there was a fight between people inside the club.

According to police, Jackson pulled out a handgun and began firing shots, hitting Evans. Jackson continued to shoot outside the club where Williams was shot as he tried to help others.

Jackson fled the scene.

He is charged with one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault.
