JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann held a press conference on Tuesday to discuss election information in advance of the November 8 General Election.

Hosemann has assured Mississippians that he is taking "every possible precaution" to protect Mississippi's election system from hacking or other security risks.

He says that the elections are not rigged, but that many have tried unsuccessfully to hack into the system. He assures voters that the system is secure, however.

Hosemann anticipates a 60% turnout in Mississippi for the presidential election.

So far, he says that 71,544 absentee ballots have been issued so far, which he says is lower than in the past. Absentee ballots can be changed only if voters go to the polls on Election Day and your absentee ballot is marked rejected.
