RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A property owner has been fined for burning during a burn ban after the fire he started burned over 100 acres.

Hinds County EOC Director Ricky Moore said that EOC units responded to a large brush fire just off of Billy Fields Road in Edwards.

Forestry had two bulldozers clearing fire lanes and setting backfires. Strong wind gusts were making the the process difficult.

Hinds County EOC says over 100 acres are involved in this wildfire so far. There were many tires among the debris.

Rankin County Undersheriff Raymond Duke reported another brush fire at 2256 Shiloh Road.

According to Walters Fire Department, the ACL Water Association Plant and five acres of woods are on fire endangering structures. Fire Departments from Brandon, Pelahatchie, Puckett, Shell Road, Walters and Forestry are en route and on the scene.

This is a developing story. We have a crew at both scenes and we will update this story as more information becomes available.
