FLOWOOD, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Former Mississippi Corrections Commissioner Christopher Epps was arrested Tuesday by Flowood Police for burglary.

Attorney John Colletti says Epps bonded out Tuesday evening.

According to Chief Richie McCluskey, Epps went into his old house, to get some items and police were called on him.

He was found with some electrical lighting fixtures and arrested, without incident. The property will be returned to the United States Government.

Epps' home was seized by the federal government shortly after his arrest on charges of money laundering and filing false tax returns.

Epps pleaded guilty in February 2015. A federal judge delayed the sentencing to May 24.

He faces up to 23 years in prison and is forfeiting $1.7 million in assets.
