Former MDOC Commissioner's detention hearing continued

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Former Mississippi Corrections commissioner Christopher Epps will spend anoer night in e Madison county jail. U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate continued the federal bond revocation hearing to Friday.

Epps was arrested October 28th on burglary charges in Flowood.  He was out on bond on federal bribery charges.

Over the objections of his attorney, Epps took the stand saying "He made a big mistake and wasn't thinking when he went back to his upscale home."

He admitted entering the padlocked garage, cutting  wires and taking 5 landscape lights. Epps cried, claiming he did not know he couldn't retrieve his personal items.

The  home was forfeited to the U.S. government May 9th.

Judge Wingate ordered witnesses subpenaed to determine if Epps had been drinking.
