Free legal help for Vets and soldiers

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Whether it's making out a will, power of attorney or issues related to claims and benefits, veterans could get help on this Veterans Day at no charge.

The Mississippi College School of Law teamed up with several groups to give Vets free legal assistance. Volunteers say Veteran's Day is the perfect time to give back to those who have given so much to this country.

Mark Majors with the Mississippi College School of Law said, "it’s an opportunity for us to give back and it’s an opportunity for the students from the Military Justice Society to gain experience working with attorneys in order to provide these legal benefits to soldiers and veterans."

Legal assistance for vets and those still serving in the military will be available the second Friday of every month at the law school in Jackson.

The event is jointly sponsored by MC Law, the Military Justice Society, the Mississippi National Guard and the Military Assistance Committee of the Mississippi Bar. Veterans Service Officers also assist Vets with legal questions.
