JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The capital city marked its 58th homicide Friday night. That shooting victim was 18-years-old.

Monday the search continued for the gunman in the latest murder. 18-year-old Tunoris Lewis was fatally shot while driving an SUV down Anna Lisa Lane. Police are still looking for the two suspects seen running away after the gunfire.

Last year Lewis was charged with capital murder in the shooting death of Rickey Levon Smith.

Smith was shot multiple times while sitting in a car at the Southdown Apartments on Raymond Road in October of 2013. The charges against Lewis were later dropped.

Since January, Jackson police have reported eight homicides involving kids 18-years-old and younger. There have been two homicide arrests age 18 and under.

"Being a violent crime, if a gun is involved they will be charged as an adult," said JPD Commander Tyree Jones. "They do not go to the youth detention center. They are booked and processed as an adult, and they are treated as an adult".

November 3rd, 18-year-old Kristen Bennett was shot and killed on Gaddis Street. A gunman stood in the middle of the street and fired into the front windshield.

One day later, police say 21-year-old Marsalis Townsend turned himself in to authorities in connection with Bennett's death, the city's 55th homicide.

17-year-old Jaquez Ingram was shot several times in the chest in early August. It happened on Deerfield Drive where police said two males in separate cars exchanged gunfire. Ingram later died at a local hospital.
