HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A man and a child, believed to be a father and his young son, are dead after a fire erupted in a camper at a deer camp, located at the end of a dirt road off Old Jackson Road, in Hinds County.

The State Fire Marshal is assisting in the investigation.

There is nothing left of the burned out trailer the man and child were sleeping in overnight. There was a generator near the trailer. Still there is no word on what started the tragic fire.

"Both bodies are burned beyond recognition," said Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart. "I'm seeking dental records to confirm the identities. We do have probable names of the victims, however, because of the badly burned bodies, we cannot visually look at them and identify the bodies, So they will have to be identified scientifically through dental records or DNA."

The Coroner confirmed family members were on the scene this morning.
