JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Deanthony Tipler scored 16 points and dished seven assists to lead Ashland over Shaw 88-57 in the Mississippi Boys Class 1A championship game on Thursday.
The Blue Devils won their second straight state championship, which is also their second in school history.
Ashland (28-6) dominated Shaw on the boards with a 44-23 rebounding edge. The Blue Devils forced Shaw to shoot just 39 percent from the floor.
Ashland's Ocquavion Agyekum, Cadarrious Crumb and Juwan Martin all scored 14 points while Richard Brooks added 12. Martin also pulled down 12 rebounds. The 6-foot-6 Crumb - who added nine rebounds and two blocked shots - was named the game's Most Valuable Player.
Shaw (24-9) was led by Anthony Davis Jr., who scored 18 points. Anthony Jackson added 13.
