Residents still without power after more rain pounds metro

Power lines are down throughout the metro and many residents are left in the dark. 

A tree has fallen on a power line on Shalimar Street knocking out power in the area.

Here is the latest for each county after storms and rain came through last night.

Clairorne County:

Port Gibson- Thunderstorms have resulted in approximately 227 customers being without power due to damages to Entergys electrical system.  Damage to 5 poles has been found and crews have arrived to begin the repairs. Restoration is expected for the majority of customers by midnight.  

Copiah County:

  • Crystal Springs: Restoration in this area is complete. Customers that are still without power and are able to receive power safely should contact 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243).
  • Gallman: Restoration in this area is complete. Customers that are still without power and are able to receive power safely should contact 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243).
  • Georgetown: Restoration in this area is complete. Customers that are still without power and are able to receive power safely should contact 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243).

Hinds County

  • Clinton & Surrounding Areas- Damage assessment has been completed and restoration is underway. Approximately 921 customers are currently without power.  These outages are scattered throughout western Hinds County.  Entergy crews along with additional restoration workers continue to work on restoring power by 11:00 pm tonight.  However, with the additional rain moving in the area, restoration to some areas may be hindered and not restored until Tuesday, May 23.
  • Jackson- Damage assessment is now 100 percent complete and workers are continuing in the restoration efforts.  During the day today, additional power poles were found damaged affecting approximately 226 customers. Restoration of power is expected for all customers that can take power safely by 10 pm tonight, May 22.

Lincoln County

Bogue Chitto- Restoration in this area is complete. Customers that are still without power and are able to safely receive power should contact 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243).

Madison County

  • Flora- Restoration in this area is complete. Customers that are still without power and are able to safely receive power should contact 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243).

Warren County

  • Vicksburg- Damage assessment is 100% complete and additional crews are working in the area. Repairs to 23 spans of wire, damaged crossarms and 5 broken poles are required and underway. Over 700 customers have had power restored and currently 1074 outages remain without power. Crews are working to restore most customers that are able to take power safely by midnight tonight. Due to continued poor weather, some customers may not be restored until Tuesday, May 23.
