JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two people have been arrested in the double shooting that killed one Saturday night on Gammil Street in west Jackson.

23-year-old Jayland Henderson and 32-year-old Travia Henderson have been arrested for murder in the death of 26-year-old Jamie Washington and one count of aggravated assault.

According to JPD Commander Tyree Jones, both Jayland and Travia were charged with murder and aggravated assault. They were denied bond in court Tuesday.

Just before 9:00 p.m. Saturday, JPD officers responded to the 3800 block of Gammill Street regarding a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found two men had been shot while standing near a home.

23-year-old Rodriquez Byrd and 26-year-old Jamie Washington were both transported to UMMC for medical treatment.

Byrd suffered a single gunshot wound to the foot and is listed in stable condition.

Washington was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police say that there had been a fight between several people and two men pulled out weapons and began shooting.

After the two victims were shot, the suspects fled the scene in what appeared to be a white Ford Crown Victoria and a gray or primed "Box" style Chevy vehicle.

It is not confirmed at this time if the victims were involved in the fight.

There were no other injuries reported.

Anyone with any information regarding this investigation is urged to contact police at 601-960-1234 or 601-355-TIPS (8477)
