BROOKHAVEN, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Lincoln County community is still reeling from what is said to be the first violent shooting spree in its history. The families of two children killed in Brookhaven talk about the horrifying weekend events that have changed their lives forever.

"We heard one shot, and it stunned us. Then we heard multiple shots after," said Caleb Edwards as he recalled the frightening moments that left his brother 11-year-old Austin Edwards and cousin, 17-year-old Jordan Blackwell dead.

The 15-year-old was inside the Coopertown Road home early Sunday when he said Willie Corey Godbolt burst through the door.

At least 12 children were in the house and all began to hide.

"He asked Jordan. He asked him where your Mama and Daddy at?" said Caleb. "After he asked him, Jordan told him Bogue Chitto, Bogue Chitto, and after he said Bogue Chitto, he just shot him".

Shon and Tiffany Blackwell have seven children. Jordan was their youngest. The couple said he had a bright future and was looking forward to his senior year and football season.

His mother said she feels like she's in a dream and getting ready to wake up to see Jordan coming down the hall and into her room.

"My son, they always looked up to Corey," said his father Shon Blackwell. "You know always all the kids around looked up to Corey. So that's why it's so unbelievable to us, that it happened the way it did".

Jordan was an Inside Lineman at Brookhaven High School and had at least four scholarship offers.

Austin, who loved animals and fishing, was going to sixth grade at Lipsey Middle School. The 11-year-old was supposed to spend Memorial Day with his uncles and relatives fishing on a pond in Bogue Chitto.

"While we were consoling his wife's family, he was at my sister's home killing our children, my son and my sister's son," said Austin's mother Shayla Edwards.

Caleb Edwards said after Jordan and Austin were shot, Godbolt then forced a 16-year-old to leave with him.

According to authorities, Godbolt then went to a home on East Lincoln Road and killed Ferral and Shelia Burage.
