VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

State inmate 24-year-old Melody Diana Maher is back in custody. Maher escaped while on a work detail in downtown Jackson almost a week ago. She was found at a Vicksburg apartment Wednesday afternoon.

Maher was caught at 1:45 by officers with the Mississippi Department of Correction's Investigation Division, and U.S. Marshals.  She was found with two wanted felons.

Thirty-four-year-old Steven Heigle, who is on probation, and parolee 35-year-old Jerry Brady Weed were arrested with Maher. They were wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections on unrelated charges but could face additional charges in connection with Maher's escape.

Heigle was released on probation on February 19, 2016. He received a total of seven years for two felony DUI convictions in Sharkey County.

Weed was released on parole on November 8, 2016. He received three years for possession of a controlled substance in Sharkey County and two years for possession of amphetamine in Hinds County.

Maher, who escaped from a work detail at Mississippi Prison Industries on North State Street May 25th, has been in prison since last year for two drug convictions.
