Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy William Durr.

Durr's funeral was held at Easthaven with burial at Moak's Creek Baptist Church. Riverwood Family Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Deputy Durr's funeral procession lasted for at least 30 minutes.

A countrywide prayer vigil hosted by city and county officials and area churches will be held Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Civic Center.

Motor units from Pearl, Richland, Brandon, Hinds County, Jackson, and Ridgeland were in attendance.

Governor Bryant ordered all flags to be flown at half staff Thursday from sunrise to sunset.

Durr, the son of Debbie Durr and the late Donnie Durr, leaves behind a wife, Tressie, and son Nash.

He was a graduate of Mississippi College and a member of Brookhaven Masonic Lodge and Moak’s Creek Baptist Church. He had a passion for children and youth ministries and would use his talents as a ventriloquist to minister to them. 

Funeral services for the other seven shooting victims, including two children killed in a weekend shooting spree, have also been set.
