Southern Miss ready for a packed house at Hattiesburg Regional

HATTIESBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Pete Taylor Park holds just over 5,000 fans, and don't expect to see any empty seats this weekend after tickets sold out in less than 48 hours. Add in-state rival Mississippi State to the four team regional field, and you can expect an electric atmosphere with NCAA baseball back in Hattiesburg.

Safe to say The Pete is the hottest ticket in town.

Taylor Braley said "I had people calling me since we found out that the regional was here, 'Hey man you gonna be able to give me some tickets?' I'm like, I don't know man, tickets are tough to come by. It's going to be like playing a big league ballgame I think with all kinds of people."

Conference USA Player of the Year Dylan Burdeaux feels this weekend is a gift to the black and gold faithful. "We wanted to give these fans the regional, they deserved it. We thought they deserved it last year, ended up not getting it. But this year we finally got it here in Hattiesburg for them to enjoy. The whole city is definitely hyped up about it, and the whole state of Mississippi with Mississippi State coming in. It's going to be a real treat for sure."

Southern Miss opens the Hattiesburg Regional Friday at 1:00pm versus Horizon League champion Illinois-Chicago. You can watch the game online at
