WARREN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

MDOT says an early Sunday morning accident, involving an 18-wheeler, on I-20 east in Warren County has been cleared.

The MS Highway Patrol tweeted saying an 18-wheeler was overturned on I-20 eastbound, at mile marker 16 in Warren County.

Our crew on the scene says traffic is backed up all the way to the Flowers exit 15. The 18-wheeler landed near the Big Black River Bridge. Two wreckers are on the scene attempting to get the big rig back upright.

Traffic is moving very slowly. Authorities on the scene are unloading cylinder shaped barrels from the wrecked 18-wheeler and unto another 18-wheeler. Tractors with forklifts are also being used.

Our on-scene crew says I-20 should be avoided. It is suggested that motorists take Highway 80 into Edwards and get back unto I-20 coming into Jackson.

MHP Corporal Eric Henry says the unnamed driver of the big rig told officials he was trying to avoid hitting a deer and lost control.

No injuries were reported in the accident.
