Vicksburg Police found a body in the Marcus Bottom area of Vicksburg on Friday.

Family have identified the victim as Anderson White III.

Authorities say around 3 p.m. the suspect in the shooting turned himself in to police.

Officials have identified the suspect as 17-year-old Robert Harris Jr.

Family and friends tell our Patrice Clark they found White's body in the woods.

Vicksburg Police say the events leading up to the discovery of White's body, began Thursday around 11:35 p.m. when officers responded to Military and Roosevelt Ave. in reference to shots fired.

Officials say at that time no activity was discovered. On Friday around 10:45 a.m. Vicksburg PD responded back to the area after a vehicle was found crashed into a road sign believing an automobile accident had occurred. Investigators found evidence believing a crime had occurred. After a search in the area, investigators left the scene.

Investigators were able to determine the vehicle was last driven by Anderson White, III.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. Friday relatives and friends notified E-911 when they located Whites body in a wooded area in the 2000 block of Military Ave. White appeared to have been shot at least once. His body was transported to the Mississippi Crime Laboratory in Jackson and it's pending an autopsy.

Harris will appear in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Wednesday, July 5, 2017.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
