After leading South Jones on the soccer field, Mary-Kate Smith is enjoying her first season at Ole Miss.
The junior midfielder has played in all 15 games for the Rebels, scoring two goals and dishing out a team-high seven assists. After spending a season at Southern Miss and Jones County Junior College, respectively, Smtih seems to have found the right fit at Ole Miss.
"She is just a dream," said Ole Miss women's soccer coach Matthew Mott. "She has done such a great job. Coming in January and had a great spring, rolling it right into the fall as one of our starting midfielders. She is really fast and I thought she set up the game-winner the other night at [Texas] A&M and we just missed it wide. She's been great all season and has really grown into her role. MK [Smith] understands the level of competition and she's up for it. She is one of the best midfielders in the league, quite honestly. She gets by players and is great in possession. As a player on the team, you could not ask for any more than a great student who does everything we ask and works her tail off. She's been great for us."
The Rebels (10-4-1, 3-4 SEC) have three regular season games remaining, beginning with a home match against Auburn on Thursday.
