NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Drew Brees said it best; “It only gets tougher."

That was two weeks ago after their most dominating win of the season in Buffalo.

He knew what was ahead. Sure enough, it’s here.

Last week the Saints escaped Washington in dramatic fashion. On Sunday, they were thoroughly whipped by a team that’s as complete as them in the Rams.

On this day, the Rams were far and away better. Actually, it was much better than the 26-20 final score. The team clearly missed Marshon Lattimore and Ken Crawley. Jared Goff took advantage from the game’s first play and never let up.

Kenny Vaccaro was back but didn’t look like himself. Alvin Kamara was phenomenal but didn’t get nearly enough help on that side of the ball. The offense as a whole seemed out of sync on a day where everyone knew they were going to have to carry the team to have any chance.

All in all, it was a loss they rightfully earned.

And like Brees said, it only gets tougher and more meaningful these next two weeks.

On Sunday they’ll face the 8-3 Carolina Panthers. They’ll follow that up with a trip to Atlanta to face the suddenly surging 7-4 Falcons four days later on Thursday night.

So buckle up, the ease with which the majority of their eight game win streak is over. More dog fights like the last two weeks are on the horizon.
