The Saints improved to 9-3 on the season after beating Carolina, and now hold a one game lead over the Panthers (8-4) in the NFC South. If the teams tie for the division lead, the Saints would advance with the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Black and Gold beat the Panthers in both matchups this season.
The Saints hold the 4th spot in the NFC conference with only four games left in the regular season.
"I think it's significant in a division with a good run defense. It was significant towards time of possession. It was significant towards us being better on third downs. It's a divisional game, and an important game for us," said Saints Head Coach Sean Payton.
The Saints visit the Falcons Thursday in an NFC South matchup.
