The headliner in Saturday's Black & Gold Game will be the Southern Miss quarterback race. Jack Abraham is one of several contenders. The former Oxford Charger was the 2015 Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year. After transferring from Louisiana Tech, Abraham threw for over 2900 yards and 23 TD in 2017 for Northwest.
He's faced QB competition since childhood.
"My dad started a little league team in Oxford, and all we had was 11 and 12 year olds, and I was 7. So he just threw me out there to the wolves. I just went out there, tried to play. Just kept on improving at that. My dad played quarterback a little bit in high school, so he kinda knew how it worked."
The Black & Gold Game is Saturday at 12:00pm at The Rock.
