Officers shot at following traffic stop, chase

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police are investigating a shooting incident involving officers of the street level crimes unit following a traffic stop on Bailey Avenue near Woodrow Wilson Avenue.

Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction shortly after 1:30 a.m. Saturday. 

Moments later, the vehicle fled from the stop to a nearby neighborhood.

Officers caught up just as four black men got out of the vehicle and one fired a shot at officers. Officers took cover momentarily, then gave chase.  

They were able to apprehend three of the four suspects in a wooded area but one remains at large.

20-year-old Quivarious Parker and 18-year-old Jordan Green have been charged with attempted aggravated assault on a police officer.

Officers did not discharge their firearms at anytime during the incident and there were no reported injuries.
