CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Continental Tire factory in Clinton is still a work in progress, but many are hoping that progress can lead the state in the right direction. Right now, it may not be much to look at, but the construction of the plant is speeding up.

A plant like this, is big for the state and the state economy, so what do people in the Clinton-Bolton area think about the tire factory moving to their neck of the woods? Jessie Haley, a local realtor, expects a boom in the Clinton-Bolton area.

"We're excited to have Continental Tire come in and provide a lot of jobs," said Haley. "Mississippi can definitely use that economic boost. It's just going to offer a lot of job opportunities. Being a realtor I look at it from a real estate standpoint. It's going to increase property values and be a great thing for our school systems, and yeah we're just looking forward to having them."

The completion for the plant is set for December 2019 and is planned to be the flagship plant for the company.

The first wave of jobs for the plant includes material handlers, maintenance technicians, and information technology workers. Jobs with an average salary of $40,000.

They will begin taking applications in October.
