JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed another man on Colonial Drive near Terry Road Friday morning.

The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Damian Z. Harris.

The two men were seen walking together before the shooting. Police arrived to find the Harris on the ground, wounded.

"He turns around and the man with the red shirt pulls the gun and just starts shooting at him," said a local business manager describing the minutes before the victim was shot.

"We've since learned that the victim was shot more than once, and we have learned the victim has succumbed to his injuries," says JPD Sergeant Roderick Holmes.

According to the witness, Harris and an unknown male were walking on Terry Road.

"They were bickering back and forth and as they walked down they kept on calling names," the business manager says.

That's when he says the man shot Harris.

"The guy in the red shirt said something to him," the witness says.

Then he heard four shots ring out.

One of the most disturbing things about this homicide is where it took place. According to the witness, the suspect shot the victim four times and in front of at least 10 cars.

"It didn't make no sense," said the witness. "Why you gonna shoot somebody in broad daylight in front of so many witnesses? You might as well sit down."

The suspect was caught on surveillance video running from the scene.

He's identified as a black man, approximately 18 to 25-years-old. He was last seen wearing dark colored pants, a red long sleeved shirt and a dark colored baseball cap.

If you have any information, call CrimeStoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477) or call the Jackson Police Department.
