JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A former employee at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson was arrested Wednesday for stealing money and banking information from a patient, announced Attorney General Jim Hood.

27-year-old Shaniqua Kiera Jenkins, of Jackson, was arrested following an indictment by a Hinds County grand jury on one count of felony exploitation of a vulnerable adult. Jenkins is accused of stealing the victim’s debit card number and additional information on the card then using it to withdraw more than $250 for her personal use in January 2017.

At the time of the crime, Jenkins was working at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson where the victim was a patient.

Jenkins was booked into the Hinds County Detention Center and released on a $5,000 bond. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
