JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A 38-year-old man from Corinth was arrested Friday for submitting false documents to the Mississippi Department of Human Services to halt his child support payments.

Jabari Toins was arrested by the Alcorn County Sheriff's Office following his indictment by an Alcorn County grand jury for one count of filing a false document with a state agency and one count of wire fraud for faxing the document across jurisdictional lines.

The indictment alleges Toins forged the judge’s signature on a document that terminated his parental rights with the intent of ceasing his court ordered child support payments. Toins allegedly faxed the document to the Mississippi Department of Human Services in Jackson.

If convicted, Toins faces up to five years in prison for filing the false document and up to 10 years for wire fraud.
