NATCHEZ, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

One woman is dead after being shot at Club Rockefeller's located on Martin Luther King Jr. Street in Natchez around 5:30 Sunday morning.

According to Natchez police, they were dispatched to the scene and found 27-year-old Luquitia Renee Owens laying on the sidewalk near an area commonly known as the triangle.

Police say the shooting resulted from a fight between another woman and the victim, when a third woman who has been identified as 24-year-old Monique Noble, used the gun as a weapon and struck the victim twice before shooting her.

Coroner James Lee said Owens suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after.

Noble is being charged with second-degree murder.

During the course of the investigation, 28-year-old Caleb Walton Jr. was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, but police say there is currently no indication that he was involved in the victims death.
