#2 Delta State blanks Mississippi College in regular season finale

Press Release from Mississippi College Athletics

The Mississippi College baseball team fell 2-0 on Sunday, Apr. 29 to nationally-ranked and in-state foe Delta State at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field. The Choctaws move to 29-15 on the season and 18-10 in the Gulf South Conference. Delta State improves to 38-8 and 23-5 in league play.

MC outhit the Statesmen in the contest 10-7, but couldn’t come up with the timely hit to push runs across the scoreboard. The two teams combined for 24 runners left on base with the Choctaws leaving 11 stranded.

The Navy and Gold got multiple hit performances from Billy Cameron, Hunter Wilson and Trey Pittman in the game as the trio gathered two hits each.

Mississippi College travels back to Cleveland, Miss., for the Gulf South Conference Championship. The Choctaws will be one of the four teams in Pool A along with top seed Delta State, No. 5 seed North Alabama and No 8 seed West Alabama. MC opens pool play on Saturday, May 5 against North Alabama. First pitch is set for 10 a.m. The Choctaws make their second straight appearance in the GSC Championship.
