JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Lonnie Montrel Taylor, a 22-year-old black male, died Monday, April 30, 2018, after being shot multiple times in his car, according to the Jackson Police Department.

Sgt. Roderick Holmes said Taylor was driving when he was shot and killed, crashing into a home on Montebello Drive.

Taylor, also known as Lil Lonnie, had been pursuing a rap career.

Several well-known hip hop artists expressed their condolences after his death.

Jackson police have not made any arrests in the case
