Mississippi College wins first Gulf South baseball title in program history

 The Mississippi College baseball team won the Gulf South Conference Baseball Championship with a 7-6 win over Lee University on Wednesday, May 9 at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field. The Choctaws earned the automatic berth into the NCAA South Regional May 17-20.
The GSC Championship is the first in program history for the Choctaws.
The NCAA Selection Show is Sunday, May 13 at 9 p.m. central.
Four Choctaws posted multiple hit efforts in the win led by Blaine Crim's four-hit day. Grant Barber, Billy Cameron and Brandon Broussard each recorded two hits to join the Mobile, Ala., junior. Cameron paced the squad with a multiple-RBI effort with two runs driven in.
Chris Crosby (7-4) fanned five in six innings of work to secure his second win of the tournament on the mound. Tommy Taborda (3) picked up the save as he tossed the final frame in relief with one hit allowed. Austin Chastang pitched two frames in relief and allowed one run on two hits with a strikeout.
