Appeals court reverses and remands case of fired Greenwood superintendent

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Montrell Greene, former superintendent of the Greenwood Public School District, had a victory in court Tuesday.

Greene was fired by three board members in January 2016.

Greene's lawsuit claiming the board violated his right to due process for a pre-terminination hearing, was tossed by U.S. District Court.

Greene appealed and the U.S. Fifth Circuit reversed the decision of the district court, sending the case back to district court.

Greene was hired in 2013 on a three year contract that was extended through June 2018 before his termination.
