MHSAA 2A FINALS: St. Joseph beats East Union in 10 inning thriller

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

St. Joseph and East Union had a dramatic matinee Wednesday in Game 1 of the MHSAA 2A Baseball State Championship. The Bruins led 4-0 early, the Urchins rallied in the 7th to force extras. The game wouldn't be decided until the 10th.

A rundown would spring Joshua Briscoe free to score the winning run. St. Joe would tack on another run, holding on to win 7-6.

Gerard McCall's crew lead the best-of-3 series 1-0. Game 2 is Friday at 4:00pm at Trustmark Park. The Bruins are 1 win away from their first state title since 1977.
