VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A tow made up of 30 barges loaded with grain was heading down the Mississippi River when one of the front barges hit the Old Highway 80 Bridge.

"I heard my wife holler at me that a barge must have hit the bridge," says Paul Ingram.

Ingram and his wife Donna witnessed the accident and recorded this video with their cell phone.

"The barges aren't usually damaged, but it got hit really, really bad," says Ingram.

As a result of the collision, five barges broke free.

"The barge is the one that got crunched by the Old Highway 80 Bridge," says Ingram.

After floating for a while, it started to sink.

"It slowly sank and spun around a little bit and we could tell when it hit bottom," says Ingram.

This is the second barge accident since March.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation is investigating the incident because they are responsible for the structure of the bridge.
