JPD investigating after two men show up to hospital with gunshot wounds

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police are investigating after two men showed up to a local hospital with gunshot wounds. 

According to JPD, the shooting happened near the corner of Emmett Avenue and Cromwell Street.

The shooting happened shortly before 1:30 pm. Officers responded to the hospital to find a 28-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a second 29-year-old man suffering from a wound to the foot. 

Officers learned that the two victims were leaving a nearby store when they believed they were being followed by several vehicles occupied by unknown individuals.  The victims’ vehicle was then blocked by the others at the corner.

Several men exited and fired shots into their vehicle before fleeing the area. 

The 28-year-old is listed in critical but stable condition. The second victim’s injury was not life-threatening. 

Investigators are still attempting to gather information about the suspects and vehicles involved.
