Man who attacked jogger on Natchez Trace turns himself in

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The man who attacked a woman who was running on the Natchez Trace turned himself in at 11:30 a.m. Monday after a warrant was issued for his arrest that same morning.

According to Ridgeland police, they responded to an area near the Craft Center on the Natchez Trace just off Rice Road at 8:00 a.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived, the woman told them she was running when she saw a man standing on the trail ahead of her. As she passed the man, he began to follower her then grabber her rear end with both hands.

The woman confronted him and he ran off before she called 911. She saw the car he drove away from and gave his description to police. 

The Ridgeland Police Department Investigations Division was notified and began to investigate. They were made aware of a similar incident that happened in Jackson on the same day. Based on information collected from the Ridgeland victim and other sources, investigators were able to identify the suspect. 

He has been identified as 48-year-old Ronald Bryant from Jackson. He will be charged with disturbing the public peace.
