JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The woman responsible for leaving three young children locked in a hot van has not been charged.

It happened at the Walmart on Greenway Drive.

According to JPD Sgt. Roderick Holmes, leaving a child in a car unattended is considered a misdemeanor child neglect if there is no serious injury. However, the law can only be enforced if the parents of the children are the complainants.

In this case the parents decided not to press charges.

A woman walking through the parking lot noticed the children in the car. With temperatures reaching into the 90s Wednesday, she called police.

When first responders arrived on scene, the youngest child was having breathing difficulties. He was treated and all of the children were released.
