CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Clinton Police Department, along with other Metro Law Enforcement, are investigating a string of gas station burglaries in Pearl, Jackson, and Clinton that are believed to have been committed by the same group of suspects. 

Clinton police stated that the suspects have been utilizing smash and grab tactics to break and enter the gas stations by force. Cigarettes have consistently been the primary target of the smash and grab suspects.

Identified through surveillance at the gas stations, a red Ford Focus has been identified as the suspects' vehicle.

On June 1, the Clinton Police Department stopped the suspect vehicle in Clinton and identified 38-year-old Timothy Alan Tate, of Jackson, as one of the individuals identified in surveillance video at the gas stations. 

CPD arrested Tate on misdemeanor drug charges. Tate was released to the custody of the JPD for a gas station burglary in their jurisdiction.

Timothy Alan Tate is a person of interest in a May 25 burglary of the Lakeside Chevron on Springridge Road in Clinton. CPD is working to identify additional suspects in the business burglaries.

JPD has since charged Tate with business burglary.  Metro area law enforcement agencies and the Clinton police need the public's help in identifying additional suspects.
