A Jackson native received quite the homecoming at Tiger World. Ashley Robinson was introduced as athletic director in front of a packed house at the JSU Student Center.
The Murrah & Mississippi Valley alum comes to JSU after spending the last 5 years as Prairie View AD.
"The magical thing about home is that it feels good to leave. It feels even better to come back."
During his tenure in Texas, the Panthers have built new stadiums for football, soccer, and track & field. Academics have improved at Prairie View 7 teams received a perfect APR score in 2016 (women’s bowling, women’s cross country, women’s track, women’s volleyball, women’s golf, women’s tennis, and men’s tennis).
It’s not Robinson's first stop in Tiger World. He served as the assistant compliance director at JSU in 2007.
Robinson played point guard at Mississippi Valley and is the single-season & career assists leader. He was inducted into the MVSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011. Robinson served 9 months as Delta Devils AD in 2012 before going to PVAMU.
