MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A mother and daughter were found dead in a home in Madison County around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

According to a family member, the mother is 45-year-old Falonda Simpson and her daughter is 21-year-old Davonda Washington. Family member, Janice Levy says that Simpson's husband returned to the home on Crown Road in Camden and found the women on the floor covered in blood.

Family members say it appeared someone tried to burn the bodies.

Family members were shocked and saddened when they found out Simpson and her daughter were found dead inside their home.

“It is very heartbreaking, and we just can't understand something like this would happen in the country," said Dorothy Kelly. "Because out here, we can leave our doors open.”

Officials with the Madison County Sheriff's Department say they got the call of two women dead in the home around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday. While they wouldn't confirm a motive and released very few details, they did say the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation.

“This can’t be happening right now,” said another family member.

Family members say Simpson's husband found the mother and daughter in a pool of blood after they were reportedly set on fire.  Loved ones are wondering who and why someone would do this.

“It is just the way it happened," said Jerilyn Wilder. "Why did it happen that way? Why? I just don't understand why.”

“My aunt was the type of person that would help if you needed help or anything," said Shirlyn Fleming. "She was right there for you. I don’t understand.”

Those heartbroken in the community of Camden wants answers. They hope the person or persons responsible are caught soon.

“I praying whoever did this, lock them up and throw away the key," said Kelly. "I hope to catch the killer.”
