EDWARDS, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Thursday, Hinds County Judge William (Bill) Skinner set a $1 million bond for a man who is accused of killing 41-year-old Clifton Nelson. Nelson is the brother of Edwards Assistant Police Chief Terrance Crump.

Edwards Police Chief Torrence Mayfield said Nelson was killed March 24, 2018 and Willie Bingham turned himself in to authorities on March 25, 2018.

"Basically I feel the bond is fair with the charges given," said Lisa Nelson, the sister of Clifton Nelson. "It's an unfortunate situation on both sides. We truly hate the situation."

Chief Mayfield said Bingham is being held on the charge of murder and for possession of a stolen firearm.
