HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Hinds County Deputies and first responders were on the scene of a single-vehicle accident near Utica Sunday evening. It appears that the vehicle left the roadway and landed on its roof in a creek.

Major Pete Luke tells us the driver was not able to free herself for nearly 12 hours.

The call originally came into the 911 dispatch center around 7:30 pm Sunday, as a medical call. Passersby requested medical assistance after seeing the woman on the side of the road, apparently disoriented and injured and requested medical assistance for her.

She was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
