15-year-old charged as adult in Vicksburg shooting

VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Vicksburg police arrested a 15-year-old boy and charged him with aggravated assault for shooting a 17-year-old on Monday. 

The 17-year-old girl was shot in the neck just before 2:00 p.m. Monday in Vicksburg inside a home at 1st East and Cherry Streets. 

The 15-year-old has been identified as Keshawn Williams. He appeared in Warren County Youth Court earlier this week and was certified as an adult. He's being held without bond at the Warren County jail and his case will be forwarded to the next Grand Jury.

The 17-year-old female who was shot is still listed in stable condition.

According to Sgt. Johnnie Edwards with Vicksburg police, officials are not sure what the motive for the shooting.

The girl was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to UMMC.
