JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson firefighter remains in ICU eight days after he was injured battling a massive fire.

Deputy Chief Cleotha Sanders says the fireman is listed as stable but has a long road of recovery ahead of him. 

He was injured fighting a massive blaze July 2 on Overlook Circle in the Presidential Hills subdivision.

Sanders also said the Jackson Fire Department thanks everyone for their prayers and asks that they still be in prayer as they are needed during his time of recovery.

The fireman has not been identified.
